In our case, it's definately Whisky, not Whiskey! All of our Whiskies come from Scotland, which is the only place on earth that can call it's Whisky "Whisky" (as opposed to "Whiskey"). Keeping up?!
The word Whisky comes is a form of the word usquebaugh, which came from the Irish Gaelic words uisce beatha and Scottish Gaelic words uisge beatha, both of which decend form the acient Irish words uisce (meaning "water" and bethad (meaning "of life"). The literal historic translation of Whisky therefore is "Water of Life"
